2 months

We had the official weigh-in... my boy has definitely been growing! He now weighs 12 pounds 14 ounces and is 23 inches long. This puts him in the 75th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. For all of you not familiar with percentiles, it means he is average height for his age and over average weight for his age. Can you say roly-poly?

My baby is two months old - where HAS the time gone? In some ways I can't believe Lane has been around for 2 months and in other ways it feels like he has always been around. Either way, I can't imagine life without him.

A couple of weeks ago we purchased a second-hand swing for Lane. It probably wasn't the best deal around but we were starting to get a bit desperate. We needed something to put the kid into the would keep him content and let us do a few things around the house. The swing definitely does the trick.

I haven't had Lane weighed recently (we go for a 2 month checkup on Thursday) but I'm guessing he is well over 10 pounds... his 3 month clothing isn't going to fit for much longer...

Our very own Gilligan... all set to head out into the sunny world to see what adventures can be found.

Growing up...

My boy keeps growing... and growing... and he is getting to be more and more fun too, as he is beginning to interact with the people around him.

The place to be

I'm convinced that Lane's favorite place to be (other than in someone's arms) is in our bed. He sleeps better, is easier to put to sleep and sleeps longer. And when it is time for me to wake up and feed him, I wake up to him fussing and not quite awake as opposed to him all out crying when he is in his crib.

I just have to remind myself some mornings that the spit-up in my bed is worth the good night sleep...

Easter

Going back in time a bit, Auntie Tara just emailed me some pictures of Lane from Easter (thanks Tara!). Jamie and I aren't the greatest at taking pictures (I'm getting better!), much to the dismay of some of you, but fortunately we have people around us that love to take them.

We drove down to my mom and dad's for Easter this year. The drive itself was an adventure as our 2-week-old son wasn't a big fan of the 4 and a half hour drive. Oh well. We all survived and he is getting better with the driving thing now. Anyway, Lane was able to meet all his aunts and uncles at Easter... and even his great-grandma. Jamie and I appreciated all the willing hands that held our son and he seemed to enjoy all the attention.

It's a wrap

So what do you do when your baby falls asleep on you but wakes up when you try to put him down? Especially when you and your husband are starving and you need to make supper? Enter the baby wrap. I made a made a wrap in the fall thinking I would be one of those moms who would wear her baby all the time. Well, baby wearing isn't a all day, every day thing for me but it does have its moments. It's a great way to hold your baby and still have both hands free to make supper or fold laundry.

This particular type of wrap is great as it distributes the baby's weight evenly over my shoulders and hips. It will also allow me to carry Lane in a variety of different ways as he gets older and has more muscle control. I think it is going to take a bit of getting used to (for both of us) before I use it consistently but I have found out just how useful it can be!
