6 weeks

Avery is six weeks old. He is a very content baby (at least compared to my first one), especially when I don't eat onions. He still likes to sleep lots but we do enjoy seeing his blue eyes. He loves his swing and he seems to like watching his big brother play the drums. He keeps getting stronger and is able to hold his head up for longer and longer periods of time. He still has lots of hair although I think it is getting a bit lighter - and now you can see red tinges here and there.

We keep getting comments about how much the boys look alike, but we have a hard time seeing the resemblance...what do you think?

Car

My son rode in a Corvette.

May I mention that I'm jealous? I've always wanted to go for a ride in a Corvette but the occasion has never arisen. And here my 2-year-old son somehow shows up his own mother. What's with that?!

Here is Lane in our neighbour's yellow Corvette.

Our neighbour's six-year-old granddaughter, Avery (how's that for a coincidence?), drove Lane around in the car. She was a very good driver.

 

I think Lane was just a little excited to go for a car ride.

Tent

Tents are a big thing at our house. Child #1 hasn't figured out how to build them himself but he loves having someone else build them for him. His favorite person to have build his tents is Auntie Laura but loves playing in them with just about anyone. 

This particular morning Dad was the playmate of choice: 

Dad doesn't fit so good in the tent but it doesn't seem to bother Lane.



End of an era

My sister has attended the bible school here for the last 2 years. She graduated on the weekend, marking the end of an era. We have really enjoyed having her up here, especially this last year as we were able to spend quite a bit of time with her. 

She loved playing with her nephew, was more than willing to babysit (even on short notice) and was game to help out with whatever project we had on the go. We've enjoyed having family close by and Lane has gotten used to seeing his auntie on a regular basis. 

Laura and her boyfriend, Jacob, came over last Sunday for the last time. I subjected them to my cooking one last time and they got to experience a boring afternoon at our house one last time. Okay, so maybe I exaggerate a little bit but our Sunday afternoons aren't too exciting right now as napping is our favorite thing to do. Regardless, while I, my husband and my youngest son napped they stole our oldest son and took him for a wagon ride and a bit of a play at the park. Like I said, my son is going to miss his auntie.

Thanks, Laura, for a being a part of our family. We're going to miss you!

Me and my boys

Pictures are few and far between right now. I blame it on my second child. But the other day I realized that while I'm trying to make a point of taking pictures of the youngest dude by himself (so I don't hear any complaints when he gets older), I have neglected getting pictures of the boys together. Actually, I think the real reasoning was that I needed a new, updated Facebook picture and realized that I didn't have any up-to-date pictures of me with either of my boys. Out came the camera and this is what ensued:

The first attempt. Testing, you may call it. A great shot of my nose, once again. I'm not very talented at lining up the camera to take a picture of myself... obviously...

Attempt #2. Much, much better. Except Boy #1 isn't looking his best. Dang. Gotta try it again.

Attempt #3. Another good shot. Everyone is accounted for. Boy #1 is looking happier but not looking at the camera. Will this ever work?!

 

Attempt #4. All are accounted for. Baby has even managed to lose the soother. Older child is now cheesing for the camera. Photo will have to do as things are going to start deteriorating from here on out.

4 weeks

So, a couple of weeks ago Avery was a month old. And I took some pictures! But, alas, life conspired against me and I did not get them posted for your viewing pleasure.
