Pics of the week
The boys hanging out on the couch. Lane's smile was so cute that I couldn't help but take a picture.

Father & Son
I'm slowly realizing that I'm the picture taker in our family. For those of you that know Jamie, this may come as a bit of a surprise; for those of you that know me and my family, this is an even bigger surprise. Anyway, what that means is that I don't end up in very many photos with my son but that we are collecting quite a few pictures of my son and his father. This particular photo is my new favorite and may actually get printed out and *gasp* put in a frame .

This was taken on the loooong drive home from BC via Edmonton. Lane was being a grumpy boy so we stopped on the side of the road in hopes of putting him in a better mood. So off the boys went to check out the field... or weeds, in this case. Either way, I love the shot as it not only captures the beauty of our prairie landscape and sky but it also seems to evoke the feeling that father is teaching son about the important things in life.
Lane did not want to let go of this weed but it did calm him down.

One more discovery
My boy is growing up. I know, big surprise. But it sometimes is hard to believe how quickly he is growing up... or how fast time flies by... or any other of the numerous cliches available on the subject. When we got home from our trip out West, not only did the two little white teeth in his mouth remind us of this fact but this was also a good indication:

Now, don't get me wrong. He didn't get into this position by himself, nor did he stay there long. BUT he was standing without any help from us and wow, did he love it. His new favorite thing to do is stand up against something and gnaw on that particular object. If his persistent spitting up hadn't already taught us that nothing is sacred, this gnawing/drooling would've clued us in pretty quick.

Cute pics
We just completed a tour of Western Canada these past few weeks; we took a road trip out to BC to attend a family reunion but somehow ended up taking quite a few detours along the way. Not that the detours were a bad thing as they allowed us to see most of Alberta and a lot of southern BC but they did their best to drive us insane as our perfect little angel still does not like being in his car seat for an extended period of time. Here are some of the favorites that were on my camera - if anyone else has some priceless pictures of us they would like to share, please feel free to send them this way.
Hanging out in Mom and Dad's bed yet again...

Sometimes all it took to get this silly boy to fall asleep was the touch of a finger...

...if only that had worked every time he started fussing while were driving!
Hanging out with Dad in Stagleap Provincial Park (west side of Creston, BC).
Getting ready to hit the pool for the first time (Osoyoos, BC).
Roughrider
My boy has an auntie and uncle that are die-hard Rider fans. Not to say that I am not a Rider fan but my enthusiasm doesn't quite compare to that of Uncle Mike and Auntie Tara. In their university days (which aren't that far removed) they were those people who painted themselves up, wore watermelon helmets and made a day of going to the game...at least that's the story I've been told. I never did manage to catch a glimpse of them when I watched the game on TV.
With such Rider pride in the family, it was no surprise that Lane received Rider gear before he was even born...

...even though it has taken him 4 months to be able to wear it.
